As you sit and wait for your interview to start, take a chance to soak in the surroundings. Do you notice lots of plants, pictures, art? This may give you an indication of the personality and lifestyle of the office. It could also be a conversation starter to break the ice in your interview.

This may also help you with steering the discussion about you. If you visually get the vibe that things are a bit more strict then stay on the safe side of letting loose too much information about yourself and any negatives that may slip out. While you don’t want to appear fake, respecting the environment up front may make you seem more dependable and respectful.
