You know that providing content is a way to establish your expertise and get visibility online. Great concept, but what if you really don’t like to write? You don’t have to be a writer to be a thought leader online.
There are three tips for sharing content while scarcely having to write a word:
Share interesting blog posts, SlideShare presentations, and videos created by others on LinkedIn as an update on your home feed or as a discussion in one or more groups that you belong to. All you need is the link. Adding a sentence about why you posted the content is a great addition, but optional.
Create a Podcast
People love stories and information shared in a conversational way. Podcasts lend themselves nicely to both. Use a free conference line with recording capabilities to have a conversation with someone your followers want to hear from. Post the recording as a podcast using SoundCloud or YouTube. Since it often takes more time to listen to a podcast than read online, your audio content may help you to connect more effectively with the listener.
Go Visual
Online videos can be very compelling. Many research studies indicate that people are attracted to videos online and spend more time with visual content than written text. Creating a video can be easy with a GoPro camera or your cell phone. You can also use a webinar tool like GoToMeeting or a Google Hangout session to present and record your information.
Whatever method you use to capture your expertise, be sure to share it everywhere that the people you want to reach congregate. This can mean your classroom discussion board, your work intranet, your social media profiles, and public websites. Be sure that you create opportunities for people to benefit from your content. And, it’s perfectly fine to write one brief promo for your content and share it in multiple places.
