Turn Down the Friend Request From Person X

Whether you’re new to Facebook or you’re a veteran pro using the site to network your butt off, you can still fall prey to hackers.

If you have a question about who the person is, and the name really doesn’t ring a bell then ignore the request. If it is someone you met at a networking event or a friend from college they’ll find a way to contact you. Since so many people use Facebook for their personal lives, connecting with someone who you could have met at a conference is not the best way to retain touch with them. Instead try finding them through LinkedIn. It’s a better way to research their credentials, and if you even want them to stay in your connected networking circle.

Facebook and Twitter (or any other social network, for that matter) are not the place to air out your dirty laundry!  Be sure to keep your cool, and keep your rants to yourself.  After all, you never know who’s seeing what you’re posting!
