Networking, NASA, and the Impact on STEM

Interview with Dr. Angela Gibson and Rachel A. Adler
Dr. Gibson is a Professor in the School of Arts and Humanities at APU.
Rachel is a Social Communities Coordinator at APU.

This is not your typical networking event. Some may view networking as a time for socializing and exchanging business cards and friend requests. For others, it involves those same components but it extends further into their area of interest. In this podcast we interview two STEM enthusiasts, Dr. Angela Gibson and Rachel A. Adler. Both have attended more than a few NASA socials where they’ve had the ability to go behind the scenes with rocket launches, and have had educational opportunities for topics like understanding the effects of climate change, and moon buggy races where they’re divided up in teams. At these socials attendees are also given direct access to scientists, engineers, and researchers at NASA. Interested in learning more about these incredible networking opportunities? Listen on to hear more of their thoughts based around the following questions:

  1. What are some of the biggest advantages of attending a NASA social event?
  2. What do you think is the strategy behind NASA inviting people from all walks of life to their events?
  3. How is NASA impacting the field of STEM with their PR, outreach, and brand loyalty?
