Are you coming up on a big interview soon? Or, maybe you’re looking for a way to move into your next role within your current company. Make a stellar impression in your next interview, or review, by being perceptive and a critical thinker.

Most interviews revolve around the resume. You point out your skills relevant to the job you applied for, and you tell the company how hard you’ll work for them. What you need to exhibit is your sort of detective skills in what some call “pain spotting“.

It would require you to do a little legwork before the interview. If you know they’re looking to expand into a new market, but haven’t had much success in the past offer up new suggestions on how you could make it work. Bring your strengths to the table, aside from what’s written on the resume, and offer up unique and innovative solutions that will improve the company’s bottom line.

If you’re coming at it from a promotional standpoint then run case studies before you share your findings. If what you’re planning on doing requires approval then present your plan to your manager, or the leadership team. Every good company has a list of successes, and failures. The point here is you constantly want to be improving your process, product, customer service, and results.
